Ernst Robert Curtius
Ernst Robert Curtius was born in 1886 in Thann, Alsace-Lorraine. He was one of the most significant representatives of the Romance studies, worked in Marburg, Heidelberg and Bonn and corresponded with contemporary authors such as André Gide, T. S. Eliot or José Ortega y Gasset and was one of the first advocates and experts of Macel Proust’s works in Germany. He died in Rome in 1956.
