» About the author EIN HUND LÄUFT DURCH DIE REPUBLIK is an anthology which gathers together pieces of literary writing by young Bosnian men and women: they delve into themes such as current living conditions, pleasures and problems, the experiences of exile and repatriation, love - jaundiced or affirmed - for Bosnia Herzegovina. Their homeland is inextricably linked to European history in a special way, it was often a bone of contention and a battlefield in political skirmishes with a resonance felt far beyond its geographical borders. Nonetheless, or perhaps for that very reason, general impressions of the current situation, of the life and spirit of the young people in this land are extremely vague if they exist at all. Reviews
»An ambitious project, highly political and highly fascinating.« Brigitte
»Unsentimental, honest and touching texts ranging between short story and essay, between fairy tale and personal field report. What is it we call our ‚homeland’, they ask, and reveal the curiosity, the critical minds, the sense of humour and the linguistic excellence of a young generation of writers rich in political as well as personal experience, who are rightly regarded as a beacon of hope for the future.«
Neue Zürcher Zeitung
»Inside views from a torn-apart country, fresh and authentic. A definite must-read.« Süddeutsche Zeitung
»A compilation of very personal, moving and honest narratives about sadness and hope, the desire to feel at home in one’s own country - and the unappeasable longing for a better world.«
